International
space station is the largest man made structure in space, it was built in pieces and launched in space and assembled into orbit.

- ISS took many years to turn this into reality, in 1984 United States announced a project called Space Station freedom it was never built in original form as it was designed during the architecture.
- In 1993 several countries got involved in the ISS and name was officially changed into International Space Station and five years later construction began in ISS.
- The first part of ISS sent to space was the module called Zaraya it was launched into space on a Russian Proton rocket on 20th November 1998 .
- In 2002 people lived on the space station over 136 days
- NASA and its partners around the world finished the space station in 2011 .

PURPOSE
OF ISS
- It’s mainly used to conduct science experiment that can only done in space .
- Capability of doing future research in space and also having new commercial entities operate in space .
- ISS is suited for testing spacecraft system and equipment required for mission of moon and mars
SPECIFICATION OF ISS
- Only six astronauts lives in the ISS and they generally switch out every six month so that no can spends too much in space .
- The station size is about the size of an American football field .
- It’s located just outside the earth’s atmosphere
- ISS only take about 92 minutes to orbit the earth by travelling with the speed of 28,000 kilometres per hour.
- The ISS will slowly lose altitude , if nothing was done station would eventually burn up as it reenter the earth’s atmosphere. To prevent this station must be periodically rebooted to stay in space.
- ISS have five bedrooms and it has two bathrooms ,and 360 degree bay window .
- On the ISS urine passes through a special water treatment plant and that turns it into drinking water.
- All astronauts in ISS must work-out atleast two hour per day to maintain normal earth-based bodily health .
- ISS can be seen from earth with naked eye.
- The length of the wire is around 8 miles just to connect electricity power in the system.
- Oxygen in the ISS comes from a process called electrolysis.
- ISS is the most expensive object ever built at $150 dollar.
